Commuter Services

Children raised in the Southern California Basin suffer a 10% - 15% loss in lung function compared to children from less polluted areas. With polluted air, you are more likely to get colds and respiratory infections. A study conducted by the California Environmental Agency found that particulate pollution is linked to 275 deaths each year in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. Motor Vehicles created more dirty air than any other source – more than one-third of all pollution in this country. Commuter Services mission is to encourage the use of alternate modes of transportation.

Hours of Operation

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Summer Hours: Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM

Incentives

• Stater Bros. Gift Certificates - If you carpool, bicycle or walk, you may be eligible to receive $2.25/day incentive, which are distributed on a quarterly basis.
• Free Omni Bus Passes available to faculty and staff in lieu of Stater Bros. Certificates.
• Carpool Parking Sticker - Carpool parking stickers are issued to carpool groups at no cost. They are available at Commuter Services (UH-130), Parking Services (TO-209), and the Information Center on Coyote Drive. Please note: A paid permit and the free carpool sticker are both required for parking in a space specially designated for carpools.
• Preferential Parking - If you bicycle or walk you are entitled to preferential parking six (6) days per calendar year. If you are a Van Pool participant you are entitled to preferential parking three (3) days per quarter. Please contact Commuter Services for details.
• Guaranteed Ride Home - An Emergency Only service offered to current Faculty/Staff Rideshare participants who either carpool or vanpool to work.
• Annual Recognition Breakfast and Luncheon
• Carpool Match List
• New Rideshare participants have the opportunity to earn an additional $2.00/day during their first three months in the program.
• Rideshare Plus Membership Card - If you reside in San Bernardino or Riverside County, and have rideshared in the past three months, you are eligible to receive a discount card recognized by local merchants.

Faculty/Staff Guidelines

Faculty and staff who utilize an alternative mode of transportation (i.e., carpool, vanpool, mass transit, bicycle, walk or Metrolink) at least two days per week for the entire month are eligible to participate. Employees must be half-time or more in an appointment that exceeds six (6) months. Emergency Hires are not eligible. Download our publication of the CSUSB Rideshare Program for more information.

Student Guidelines

Student Assistants who utilize an alternative mode of transportation (i.e., carpool, vanpool, mass transit, bicycle, walk or Metrolink) at least two days per week for the entire month are eligible to participate. Students must register quarterly and provide a copy of their current class and work schedule signed by their supervisor at the time of registration. Monthly Logs

To remain current in the Rideshare program, monthly logs must be completed and submitted to Commuter Services (UH-130) no later than the 5th of the following month, or incentives may be denied. If you plan to be on vacation or take a leave of absence, please notify Commuter Services.
